What Goes On In A Voice Lesson?
"I am a supportive, encouraging teacher who uses a variety of approaches to help each singer realize his/her potential with maximum freedom and ease. Because the body is our instrument, we spend some lesson time attending to posture, often incorporating yoga or other kinds of stretches. Then we focus on breathing techniques and exercises, followed by warming up the voice through various vocalises. We then apply ourselves to songs, using the challenges presented in the music to grow technically. I am open to many styles of music, but I do ask that students work on some classical repertoire to help in building technique. Each lesson is focused on the student: what ideas, concepts, and techniques work best for her or him."

Studio Policies

While a regular lesson is best for vocal growth, the demands of schedules and budgets dictate that the student set the frequency and duration (30 minutes or hour) of the lesson.
Students are encouraged to record their lessons for home practice.
Photocopying music is in violation of copyright law. Students are asked to purchase scores and build their own vocal library.
Payment is made at the conclusion of each lesson, unless prior arrangements have been made.
Please give 24 hours’ notice of cancellation, to avoid being charged. Sudden illness and true emergencies are exceptions.
An accompanist is needed only when the student is working on advanced repertoire.
